The instructions were not very detailed which made assembling the spring supports to the bench very difficult and time consuming. Some of the insets drilled for the long head cap bolts were not deep enough and made assembly difficult due to the bolt being at a severe angle without additional drilling.

One of the side frames had a large chip out of it that needed filling with wood filler and we did not receive enough wood plugs to cover all the holes -- we were 6 short.

The final piece is a very sturdy and nice looking piece of furniture -- however the assembly was quite long due to a lack of detail in some portions of the instructions. The type of hardware used was very easy to work with and did help the job go a little quicker.

I would recommend adding additional detail to the section on attaching the Spring Supports to the seat (bench).

Assembled very easy. Excellent value. One small blemish in the finish but in time will blend in with other 'incidences' that will occur from our 4 & 6 year old kids. Couple minor design issues that could be improved for assembly but being an engineer myself I'm always looking for a better way. For the price this Hall Tree can't be beat.

Some reviewers commented about being difficult to install the springs. I had no difficulty: Install the fixed end of the spring (to the larger piece of wood) first, tighten the screws completely, this will prevent the screws from 'pulling out'. Then start the screws for the other end (in the smaller piece of wood.) There will be a gap (1/2") between the hinge plate and wood. Tighten the screws evenly until tight (pulling the hinge to the wood) and you should have no problem with the springs.
