Recently discovered Hayneedle and bought the mini hall tree and have been extremely [...]Richland product quality itself; this piece is very sturdy and wood quality is far from flimsy. Hooks are large enough for winter coats and ample storage space under the seat (which was a big component for my decision). I had a couple of other options for a mini hall tree - but went with my gut on this one and very pleased with the final assembled product. Assembly is rather time consuming - lots of parts & screws, but final product looks great. I would recommend this product.

Difficult to put together. When we installed the closing
device it pulled the seat off when closed. We ended up
leaving device off and added more screws to make it all
work. If I had seen the hall tree in a store first I would not
have bought it.

Overall, quality is as expected for the price. Finish and look is nice. Directions, parts, and fit are terrible. Many screws are missing, mis-packaged, some are too short, and I have many leftover beyond what you would expect as spares. Many holes dont line up correctly, wood split easily, and air ram to hold seat open is positioned wrong (stays open!). I glued ALL joints as well as screwing them together, and used a drawer lock mounted inside to hold the seat shut. Also had to sand/paint one side of seat, as it was rubbing on upright when open. After all this though, looks nice and sturdy. I would think you could find something better for similar price.

First of all, once put it together, this piece is quite sturdy and nice, although somewhat smaller than expected (almost looks like a child hall tree). Putting together was quite a challenge, and this was not the first piece of furniture I assembled. Although the pieces were numbered, and the instructions would have been clear, they were not, since the diagrams did not accurately represent the pieces - which had sometimes more, sometimes less holes than what they were supposed to have. Thus, the number of screws were not right either; some were too many, some not enough. It is also made out of a quite cheap cardboard, which is sometimes a little too soft for holding the screws tightly.
Overall, assembly was harder than it should have been, but the product looks nice afterwards.

Item is cute but poorly made and a bit complicated to put together as some items were marked with different labels than what the instructions said. Defects included split laminate on the side, screws that were too short for the seat cover, and paint drips. Kept the item anyway because it is so bulky to return. We used our own screws for the seat and the split laminate is not visible when item is placed against a wall).

When assembling the bottom section, attach the hinged top BEFORE putting the bottom in and BEFORE attaching the large top section to the bottom storage box.
Very pleased with product - just what it appears to be in the pictures. Color is off-white.
